What is Pharmacy First?
The Pharmacy First scheme is an NHS initiative designed to offer professional healthcare advice and, treatment for seven common illnesses through your local pharmacy.
Launched to provide quick and convenient access to healthcare advice and treatment, this service aims to alleviate the burden on general practitioners (GPs) and offer timely assistance for common health concerns.
The Service offers free advice and treatment for seven conditions through local participating pharmacies in England. Eligible patients can access free expert advice and treatment without seeing their GP.
Conditions Included in this service:
Pharmacy First provides easy access to prompt advice and treatment including prescription medicines, where appropriate, for seven common conditions. The common conditions covered with age ranges are:
Sinusitis (12 years and above)
Sore throat (5 years and above)
Acute otitis media (ear infection) (1 to 17 years)
Infected insect bites and stings (1 year and above)
Impetigo (1 year and above)
Shingles (18 years and above)
Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTI) in women (16 to 64 years)
We also cover areas near Radcliffe-on-Trent; e.g. Bingham, Cotgrave, Cropwell Bishop, Gamston, Shelford, Newton, East Bridgford, Upper Saxondale and Tollerton.
